Baja Dogs Sterilizations ended the year with 2,122 pets sterilized, for a running total of 4,773 sterilizations completed to date.
2023 was a very exciting year here at Baja Dogs Sterilizations! We transitioned from Baja Dogs La Paz, Inc., in August of this year to our new organization, with a new board and a new registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization under our new name, while continuing with the same mission: to bring our focus on bringing free pet sterilization services to underserved communities in La Paz, BCS, Mexico.

In December, 192 pets were sterilized, bringing our year end total to 2,122 pets sterilized. For 2023, there were a total of 1,423 campaign sterilizations and 699 vouchers for a total of 2,122 done for the year. That brings our total number to 4,773 sterilizations completed to date.
In our main sterilization campaign in December, 67 pets were sterilized in a single day. We also held two of our "mini"campaigns at local resident's homes, where another 75 pets were sterilized. In addition, 50 vouchers were redeemed for in-office sterilization surgeries at our participating veterinarian's offices.
One of the attendees at our December campaign was Israel, a local rancher and volunteer firefighter who cares for 48 dogs that were abandoned on our near his property. This amazing man, who has so little, cares for these dogs as best he can. He arrived at our campaign in a broken down car with no door handles, bringing 3 of his dogs to be sterilized. People keep dumping dogs at his ranch and he takes them 1 by 1 to get sterilized. A true testament to the power of one individual to make a difference!

We want to thank all of our supporters, from volunteers to donors to our veterinary partners, Dr. Mario and his team, Dr. Fernando and his team, and Dr. Alan Ortiz and his team, for all of your help in making this an amazing year! Together we are making a difference. We look forward to expanding our sterilization campaigns in 2024. To help us continue the mission, please consider making a monthly donation here.
